Greetings;
I’m an Architect
practicing as a sole practitioner in Hopkinton, NH. At
this
stage in my vocation the majority of my work by inclination,
is private-residential in scope and nature. A little more
than half is new custom homes, the other half being addition/alteration
projects. I’ve been involved in some aspect of residential
construction or design since late adolescence, and a licensed
Architect for a quarter century, since 1980. Since then,
although I’ve worked in different situations and capacities
as an Architect (see VITAE),
my personal proclivity has been toward a personalized approach
to custom design of the private residential environment, ‘the
home’.
I was raised and schooled in New Hampshire,
and after high school graduation and undergraduate studies
at the University of Oregon, spent several years working in
the construction trades as a carpenter, prior to completing
two professional degree programs in Architecture at Rhode Island
School of Design in 1978.
During the apprentice years prior
to my first licensure I worked for several firms in New York
City where I gained a diversity of experience before founding
the Connecticut firm of Shope Reno Wharton (www.shoperenowharton.com)
with two RISD classmates. Several years later my wife and
I migrated north to NH where I practiced architecture for several
more years as a partner in the firm of McGowan Brook Reno in
Concord. Since the early nineties I’ve been practicing
as a sole practitioner, focusing my attention on custom home
design, mostly in rural New England settings. (The particulars
of my professional background are listed in detail under the
site link: VITAE.) |
